Those apartments look very nice. I’ve only lived in Del Rio, Texas, for 26 years, and our downtown has most certainly changed. About half the businesses had closed, and others closed shortly after. However, during the past 5 years downtown is being revitalized with trendy places to eat and drink. Even our old theater is being restored, which I’m very glad about. Thanks for visiting my blog and I’ve subscribed to keep up with your posts. Blessings.

My hometown downtown has changed tremendously since I was a kid. Many buildings are gone (some burned, some torn down). But, there has been so much investment in beautifying it that it looks quite nice. It’s the county seat, so there is a town square. My current town was once quite nice, too. But, as it’s a suburb of Indianapolis, it looks that! It’s quite mundane with little character. It really needed a town planner to make sure things stayed true. Instead, it’s a bit of a hodgepodge with streets ending here and then picking up there! So, I’m not really sure how it’s changed as we’ve not lived here that long! There is a building very similar to the one you’ve shown in downtown Indianapolis!

Town planners. Yes, that can definitely make a difference! Lawrence is really a beautiful city. If you ever get the chance to visit, I’ll show you around!

When I look at older pictures of my hometown when I was young it is always amazing for me how so many things have changend and how this town has grown. Then there were green fields…and now houses over houses.

We have a lot of buildings where they’ve built on top of another building….At street level you feel nothing has changed….
Hi, Lydia. This is interesting. After a building has been built, I wonder how the first floor can support the additional weight of the added top floor? I guess that is the engineer’s job!

Yes, DebraEllen, all is changing and so very quickly. Nobody can stand in the way of progress they say. Melbourne used to be a wonderful city of 2 million people when I moved here in the early 1970s. It has now grown to a megalopolis of 5.5 million. Unfortunately the infrastructure has not kept up and many beautiful old home shave been demolished to make way for ugly high rise apartments. Not to mention the increase in crime and violence – especially by young people. Thanks for taking part in the “My Sunday Best” meme.
