Hi, and welcome to Life Captured.
Today, I want to talk to you about something deeply personal and incredibly important: Mammograms.
If you haven’t had one recently—or ever—I want to share why this might be the most important appointment you schedule this year. I personally recommend speaking with your physician about when you should consider having one done.
Why Mammograms Matter
Think of a mammogram as a baseline for your future health.
Each screening you have is more than just a single snapshot; it is part of a larger story. Radiologists compare your current mammogram to your previous ones to check for even the smallest changes. This “comparison study” is the most effective way to detect issues that might not be visible or palpable otherwise.
A Survivor’s Perspective
As a cancer survivor, I know firsthand that this isn’t just medical advice—it’s a lifeline. The earlier the detection, the greater the chance for survival.
In the journey of life, people are brought into our lives for a reason. Sometimes we are here to support others, and sometimes others are here to guide us. If you are reading this right now, I believe this message was meant for you.
Your Calling to Action
Consider this your calling to prioritize yourself. Your health is the foundation upon which all your other memories are captured.
My request to you today is simple:
- Discuss your health and your specific risk factors with your physician.
- Ask when you should begin or continue your screenings.
- Make your appointment today. Please don’t wait for a “better time.” The best time to care for your future self is right now. Your health is a gift—let’s protect it together.
With hope and health,
Debra Ellen
Yesterday is today’s memory.
Be sure to capture your memory today!
All the best,.

Mammograms are so important. I have never had one although I do check myself. They are not routinely available until you turn 50 here in the UK. I will make sure to get one when I hit that age.
I have one yearly. With my cancer treatment, I am now at risk for breast and lung cancer. Early detection is the key! Yes, speak with your health care provider about the mammogram. Thank you for visiting.
All the best.
I went for my first one last year – while it wasn’t the most fun I have had, it wasn’t that bad!
Over the years, I found it’s the technician that makes a difference. Glad to hear you take the precautions to care for yourself!
When I get the invitation I go. I feel like it’s a great service to get checked out.
It sure is. Glad to know you’re taking care of you!
Great reminder!
Thanks for visiting Joanne! Catch ya later.
Hi Deb, Thanks, I am a all for mammograms, and have had mine done from a rather young age due to high breast cancer in our family. Our daughter is a leading mamograph technologist at our local hospital, as it’s something close to us. I lost my mother due to breast cancer, and my sister survived cancer with a double mastectomy. Some cousins and nieces also went through similar.
Thank you for sharing your story with us at SSPS 408. Feel free to share more. See you soon
Hi, there Esme. Glad to ‘see’ you! I survived Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, further subtyped primary mediastinal large B cell lymphoma. The chemo and radiation it took to give me these 20 plus additional years increased changes of having breast and or lung cancer. We both know the key is catching it as soon as possible. Do you have a mammogram once a year, or sooner? Good to know you go and get checked!
Have a wonderful weekend.
All the best.
Yes, here in Australia we have free Mammograms for all women over 50+, every two years.
It has saved thousands of lives.
Thank you for the reminder.
Visiting from your linky.
Blessings, Jennifer
Hi, Jennifer!
It makes me happy that you are taking care of yourself. It’s the best gift you can give to yourself and your loved ones. Early detection is the key.
All the best.
I go every year. I’m 74 so I’ve had lots of them. So important, but it’s not fun to do. You did make me chuckle.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. ♥
It made me smile when you said you got a chuckle! So good you go every year. I like your Happy Tuesday. Planning to attend on Tuesday’s.
All the best.
Good advocacy! I have a mommogram every year and thankfully so far so good!
That’s wonderful! Thank you for visiting and commenting.
All the best.
I’ve had several. I asked my PCP if I could go every 2 years instead of yearly and reluctantly she agreed. So I go this summer for my next one. This is great advice.
Thanks so much for sharing with Sweet Tea & Friends this month Sweet friend.
You are so welcome, Paula. Thank you for visiting! It’s good knowing you are taking care of yourself. Preventive care is the best for detecting early any cancerous activity. Baselines are important.
Have a fun weekend.
All the best.
