- you pull a muscle just reaching for the remote. And brag about finding a good parking spot like it’s a gold medal.
- your doctor is younger than you. The ‘Doogie Howser’ effect. You find yourself resisting the urge to ask them if their parents know they’re out this late.
- you can’t stand up on your own two feet.
- your coworker’s are younger than you.
- knowing your whole body hurts.
- people start calling you ma’am instead of miss. The Respect Trap. They think they’re being polite and “well-raised,” but to you, it sounds like they’re handing you a Social Security check and a sturdy pair of mall-walking shoes.
- going down stairs you need to hang onto the hand rail or loose your balance. The ‘Slinky’ Fear. You have a brief, terrifying vision of yourself tumbling down like a human Slinky,
- you have to cross your legs when you sneeze. The “Sneeze-Cross-Clench” maneuver.
One thing I have learned, getting older can be as fun as you want it to be. My cup is half full 🙂 Being a cancer survivor it grounds a person’s outlook on life. A humbling feeling of wanting to get older.

Be sure to capture your moment today!
All the best,.

Or.. pulled a muscle putting laundry away (like I did yesterday!).
I’ll need to remember that the next time I compile the getting older list!
Joanne, I have added yours to the complete list!
And wrenching your back reaching for the toilet paper. 🤣😂 I’ve done that.
I’ve added yours to my complete list here.
Isn’t it fun getting older? 🙂 !
No but for real a good parking space is GOLD! I have left places because I couldnt find a good spot 🫣And the sneeze thing is the pits. You could have just gone to the loo but BAM there it is! *sigh*
Thank you for joining my glimmer post 💖
Hi, Laura. You are most welcome. I appreciate your visit to Life Captured!
Have a fabulous weekend.
All the best.
These are some cute observations about getting old. I’m sure I have thought many different things lately, but I’m drawing a blank this second. (Oh yeah… the short term memory issue is huge!)
I’m so happy you survived cancer. I pray it never returns in your life!!
Crystal, short term memory- that’s a good one. It’s been added to the Complete List!
Thank you for the prayer. I believe in the power of prayer, Amen!
Have a wonderful week.
All the best.
I read it was when you start taking an interest in birds. That really hit home for me….I’m nuts about taking photos of birds now….ha! #TalkaboutitTuesday
Lydia, yours has been added to the Complete list. The master list of, ‘You know you’re getting older when’!
