This week’s My Sunday Snapshot

Have you ever seen a real oat stalk up close before it’s harvested?

The Tip for New Bloggers
Start reading your blog spam folder. Yes, you read that right! I know sorting through automated junk is the last thing you want to do. It is incredibly easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of spam that piles up. However, just today, I took a peek inside mine. I actually rescued a few wonderful, genuine comments from real visitors that had been wrongly flagged. Be sure to review your email spam as well!
Sometimes, the spam filter is a little too enthusiastic. Your absolute best reader feedback can easily get swept away in the noise. Take a look at yours today. You might just find a hidden gem hiding in the mix!
I hope you enjoy today’s snapshot and tip combo.

Yep, I check mine weekly because most of what gets flagged is not actually spam.
I’m learning this blogging stuff takes a lot of time. Maybe I should have a survey on how time is spent managing posting, attending link parties, navigating the spam, etc.
I agree, great advice! I’ve had some lovely comments and lucrative offers end up in my spam folder.
Welcome to Life Captured, Kim! Visit anytime. You’re always welcome!
Have a fun week.
All the best.
I actually check it every time I’m responding to comments. I have “rescued” a few true comments, but most is truly spam. This is a really good tip because I know a few people who have never checked their spam folder! I can’t even begin to imagine how many they have!

Hi, Marsha. I am getting what I consider a large amount of spam. Akismet has really helped contain the spam.
Have a fun week.
All the best.
I love your photos! So pretty. Yes, that’s a great tip. I have comment moderation turned on, so I have to approve each comment and can filter out spam from there without missing anything, but I’m sure it’s interesting to see what a bot flags as spam! I know that’s true with my email account, Facebook, etc. Visiting from the Life Captured – Home Page Linkup Party.
Hi, Jennifer. Thank you Akismet! I turned on the must approve all comments. That has been very helpful as well.
Have a fun and safe July 4 weekend.
All the best.
