Welcome to Life Captured. I’m thrilled to report that the daily photo challenge has officially unlocked a new routine for me. Taking a picture a day has transitioned from a task into a habit that I genuinely look forward to. It keeps me mindful and creative, as I’m always looking for that one special moment to capture. It’s incredibly fun to see where the day takes me and what that final picture will turn out to be. Here is a glimpse into my latest seven days and seven snaps!

This style of socks would never stay on my heal when wearing shoes. That is until I discovered the Peds. It’s not necessary to take shoe off and readjust the sock. These stay on feet/heal of foot.
The times I washed them by machine, I’d loose one here and there. So now I hand wash and hang outside to dry.

Today after morning route my bus went to the shop for oil change and a few other minor adjustments. I ended up staying until it was time to run the PM route. It occurred to me, I still needed a picture. That was when I had seen the blanket a fellow bus driver was covered up with. It’s chilly in our breakroom. When I saw the patterns, I knew it would make a neat B & W shot.

One of my favorite cereal’s. Today’s breakfast!

Today I drove the high school band to a band festival. It was such a wonderful day listening to all the bands.

I had such a pleasant surprise at the festival. A little backstory: when my kids wanted to play an instrument and decided to participate in band beginning in the fifth grade, I skipped the rent-to-own route. I paid the monthly amount, with the rule that they had to stick with it until they were paid off. I wasn’t going to pay for 12 months and return the instrument because they decided to quit! My daughter, Erika continued band through college. Erika, is 38 now, and my son, Adam, turns 36 next month. While sitting in the stadium, I happened to glance up and saw their school band instructor, Mr. O’Neil (taught them to play in 5th and taught through high school) , walking up the steps. Turns out, he’s now the conductor for Baker University, where the festival was hosted. It brought back so many memories, especially since Erika went to Baker, played in the band, and even met my son-in-law there! What a small world. I just had to text my kids!

I also got to share a funny memory with Mr. O’Neil. Back in high school, Erika complained that she didn’t like him because he was ‘picking on her.’ When I asked how, she said, ‘He makes me play in front of everybody!’ I told her, ‘Oh Erika, that’s actually the highest compliment. He just wants everyone to hear how the piece is supposed to sound.’ Years later, Erika admitted I was right. She realized Mr. O’Neil really was a very good instructor and a great band director after all.

Strawberries are my absolute favorite fruit, but they aren’t very Crohn’s-friendly! I can usually handle eating a few on one day, as long as I wait a couple of days before having any more. I’ve already hit my quota for today, so my gut and I are officially on a berry intermission until Saturday!“

This snapshot of my daughter, my son, and me was taken back in 2001! We took a four day weekend to Chicago. It might not be picture-perfect, but considering its source, I’m just thankful to have it. I kept almost all my old negatives, though my storage method wasn’t ideal. They stayed in their original paper sleeves, packed in plastic bins, and stored out in an un-climate-controlled shipping container. Despite years of temperature swings and moisture, I’m so glad I was able to rescue this memory!
Did I ever tell you, I embarrassed my kids regularly? This was such a time. I had asked a complete stranger to take this picture. This was before phones and selfies 😂🤣

I had fully planned on a cozy stay-at-home day. I got up, stayed in my PJs, and had a tall glass of cold chocolate milk with a banana for breakfast, ready to spend the day reading blog posts and working on my own. Well, Kevin had other ideas. 😁 Around 10:15, he announced, ‘Let’s go get Mexican for lunch in 45 minutes.’
So off we went. I ordered the Nacho Mi Portro and ended up with plenty of leftovers for dinner or tomorrow’s lunch. Afterward, we turned it into our usual Saturday grocery date. As we walked into Walmart, Kevin grabbed a cart and noticed someone had left their pharmacy purchase inside. I suggested taking it back to the pharmacy department, but Kevin decided we should deliver it directly to the address on the receipt instead. Here he is knocking on their door. Since no one was home, he left it safely on the porch for them.
Brynlee played in her first chess tournament. I didn’t make it to this one (credit to Erika for the photo) but her next match is November 7th, and I’ve definitely got my calendar marked!
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by Life Captured and look through my latest week of picture journaling! Waking up every day to find that one perfect moment has become such a rewarding routine, and now that it is officially a habit, sharing it with you makes it even better. I can’t wait to see what unexpected stories the next seven days will bring. I’m so glad to have you along for this creative journey, and I look forward to seeing you right back here next week for the next round of snaps!
Yesterday is today’s memory.
Be sure to capture your memory today!
All the best,.
Debra Ellen
