Hi, there! Welcome to Life Captured. Seven days, seven snaps, and a brand new habit that’s officially here to stay. The daily photo challenge has completely hooked me, turning ordinary moments into a fun, creative treasure hunt. I love not knowing what my “photo of the day” will be until it happens. Here is a quick glimpse into what caught my attention this past week
Sunday- Sept 6, 2026
This heavy duty bird feeder hangs year round. Beginning Fall Kevin will keep it filled with bird seed. Walking up to the barn, it caught my eye.
Notice the chain it’s held by from the tree limb!
Monday- Sept 7, 2026
Today was Labor Day, and we originally planned to gather with my parents, my husband, my son, and my daughter with her family. Unfortunately, Erika and her daughter woke up with fevers and coughs, so her family couldn’t join us. Kevin grilled chicken and cheddar cheese brats, and we paired them with mom’s fried potatoes along with pico de gallo and pickled cucumbers made from our homegrown tomatoes, jalapeños, onions, and cucumbers. We finished off the meal with fresh homegrown watermelon for dessert. It turned out to be a truly delicious lunch.
Kevin and I drove in separate cars because he had to rush back home to fix a water leak, while I wanted to spend extra time visiting with my parents. While hanging out with them, I pulled out some colored pencils and began coloring. My parents were sitting in front of the television, and every time I looked over, they appeared fully focused on whatever was playing. A short while later, I heard a loud snore echo across the room. I looked up once more and realized that both of them had fallen sound asleep.
To give you an idea of how big our watermelons can get, a 2L bottle of pop is set by one for comparison.
Tuesday- Sept 8, 2026
For the life of me, I could not see where Kevin planted the watermelon. Each time picking my cherry tomatoes, I would search for them. Finally tonight, I had Kevin show me exactly where they were.

Wednesday- Sept 9, 2026
Finally, some rain! Sure helped bring the heat down. The bus was very tolerable driving the pm route.
Thursday- Sept 10, 2026
I sure enjoy listening to wind chimes. Something about this time of year and hearing the soft sounds the wind creates is a comforting feeling. In Kansas City there is the Renaissance Festival that runs weekends through the month of October. I try to go to this very other year. This would be the year for me to do so! I will look into going October when it cools down!
Friday- Sept 11, 2026
Today I drove the high school cross country team to Wamego. We were able to drive through a portion of the Flint Hills. Unfortunately, I was not able to stop and take pictures. They are neat to see.
I like to call this ‘Focus’. Seeing the whole backside of the bus is not that spectacular. But when one focuses on just a section, it can be quite interesting!
Our bus is parked directly behind the Buhler bus.

Saturday- Sept 12, 2026
Kevin and I live a pretty uneventful life. We are creatures of habit. Every weekend we go to eat and then grocery shopping. The only deviation that might occur is it could be Saturday or maybe Sunday when we have our outing. Today was our day to stock up on our groceries. 😁
While strolling through WalMart, this sad little plant caught my attention. If I had a green thumb I would have added this plant to our cart.
