Welcome to Life Captured. I’m thrilled to report that the daily photo challenge has officially unlocked a new routine for me. Taking a picture a day has transitioned from a task into a habit that I genuinely look forward to. It keeps me mindful and creative, as I’m always looking for that one special moment to capture. It’s incredibly fun to see where the day takes me and what that final picture will turn out to be. Here is a glimpse into my latest seven days and seven snaps!
Sunday- July 19, 2026
The left image is my mother. It was taken about 20 years ago. On the right is my parents and my son. It was taken about a year ago. The reason I wanted to share this image, I went to my parents house to visit today. Adam, my son, has a small dog named, illi. Don’t ask where he pulled that name from. I never asked. This dog stays at my parent’s house quite a bit. Today while visiting, I walked illi. She’s actually walking me!
Meet illi! She thinks she’s much bigger than she really is.
Driving home, I thought about that burnt house. Drove by and snapped this picture. Remember the Small Town Drama? It’s now gone! The siding on the white house has not been repaired. Surely the homeowner’s (the burnt house) insurance would have covered it. I’ll keep checking back to see if it ever gets repaired.
Monday- July 20, 2026
I have one of those Frameo frames. Have you seen these or know what it is? A digital picture frame. I was going through some old pictures of my grandparents, aunt and my dad. Obviously, not digital! With my phone, I took pictures to be able to add to my digital frame. My parents and son has a Frameo also. I was able to upload to their frames from my house today as well.
I went out to the garden to pick a tomato or two. Not quite ready. The one in the bottom image is beginning to change color! 😃

Today was far too hot, so Dixie (Australian Shepherd) and I stayed comfortably indoors. She might be a hard-working cattle dog for Kevin, but around me, she’s a total cuddle bug. Strangers usually just see a tough watchdog guarding the house, but I know her sweet, affectionate side!

Ever used a selfie stick? I’ve owned plenty of them over the years, but dealing with replaceable remote batteries and removing my phone case just to fit the clamp got old fast. I finally found one that completely upgrades the game: the MagSafe Snap Stand Selfie. Safe to say, I’m never going back to the cheap ones! 📸 Pictured is me, my daughter and grand daughter. I was holding the stick, that’s why you don’t see my left arm. 🤓 We were visiting my mom. (She rarely gets in the pictures)

When I saw these, my mind first wondered which kids did these belong to. Then I caught myself thinking about riding my bike as a kid and the neighbor kids also riding theirs. We would ride around the block many times. Even learning how to ride free handed. Fun memories. Did you ever learn to ride free handed?

This morning I woke up to the pitter patter of rain hitting the windows. When I opened my eyes, I saw the ceiling fan. Thought it would be a fun 365 picture.

Went grocery shopping today instead of our usual Sunday. Went to lunch. The comforting, feel good kind of food and not Mexican!

Illi looks nearly identical to another dog we know. My husband’s cousin had a dog just like that who also seems to think he’s always in charge. That photo of the bikes does remind me of childhood as that’s how we knew what house everyone was hanging out at that day! I also rode freehand (for short stints only as our roads are very, very windy and hilly).
Kids now days don’t know what they are missing. Once I asked some kids on the bus if they ever go outside to play with their friends. Most said no. And that makes sense being in the farming community. The closest neighbors might be 20 to 160 acres apart. 🚲

Lovely photo of your parents and it does look like Illi is walking you. You would think the burnt house owners would have paid for the repairs on the other house.
Your tomatoes are doing well, mine are just started to change colour.
That selfie stick sounds great! I remember them being a big thing years ago but they were a faff to use.
Hi, Kim. Yes, I am enjoying the taking a picture a day thing. I made a mistake on my selfie stick. I should have bought the one that extends out more. The one I have can only comfortably be used for myself and 2 or 3 people total. I like the longer handle for times when there is a group I want to photograph with me in the picture. Oh, well. I do get laughs when I pull the stick out.

I loved seeing the photos of your parents and son as well as you, your daughter, and granddaughter! You are really embracing the spirit of this challenge, and I applaud you. My husband has a digital frame, but I don’t know the brand. I loved riding my bike freehand. I really want to get a bike. I’m waiting for our neighbors to get home as I think they have one for sale!

Hi, Marsha. It’s been fun taking the pictures. I have to admit after years of taking family and individual portraits I began to think of my camera as work. When I did not have a session, I didn’t want to be taking pictures. Now that I am retired and doing the project 365, it’s beginning to be fun again.
You will need to take a picture of you on your bike and post about it. I would sure enjoy that!

The tomatoes look like they’re doing great. Interesting keeping a watch out on what’s happening with the burnt down house and neighbouring properties. I’d be nosying too.
I can never find my selfie sticks, so end up having to buy another one. I currently need to get another one before I go away next weekend.

Oh, I loved them all. Great idea of daily captures. Yes on the riding free hand. We rode all over the neighborhoods when young, even dumped my younger sister from my handle bars once and not sure she has ever forgiven me. So embarrassing too as one of the teachers from the school was happening by, and I felt so bad like she thought I’d done it on purpose, but she just kept wiggling and wouldn’t stop and then we wrecked. We are still the best of friends though even after all these many years. 🙂
Oh, yes. Giving someone a ride on the handle bars! I had forgotten that one.

I have gone into a routine of taking my own too, it’s just a part of my life after doing it for over a year! I love the mac n cheese at KFC (and also Mexican food) your tomatoes look so big and your dog is so cute (and tiny!)

I jsut can’t get on with a selfie stick, we took one to Luxor, Egypt a few years ago, we laughed a lot, but the photos were rubbish and we still laugh at them when they pop up on our photo roll. We’ve been on holiday and our tomatoes were just starting to ripen, we left the neighbours MIL the gate code to help herself, it’ll be interesting to see what’s left when we get back. My kids used to dump their bikes on the front lawn, how they never got stolen, I’ve never figured out.
I mainly like my selfie because seems like I am always taking the pictures and never in them. So now I make sure to get into a few of the images!

It’s wonderful that you are now enjoying the challenge. I never had a selfie stick, but I think they are good. I know that I would just forget to take it with me and I don’t do loads of selfies anyway.
I carry one in my purse/backpack. It folds up pretty small. Not that I take a lot of selfies, but when I do want to, I have it with me. The newest one I bought has a remote and the remote is charged like my phone.
