After decades behind the lens, I’ve traded the hustle for a slower pace—but I’m a firm believer that creative muscles need a workout. I’m available for occasional shoots to keep my Photoshop shortcuts sharp and my eye for light even sharper. Let’s make something worth the disk space.
Hi, welcome to Life Captured.
In this featured collage above, my friend—a proud grandmother—had a very specific vision for a posed portrait. Even though I’ve retired from the professional photography world, I still jump at the chance to get behind the lens and dive into some Photoshop edits. As the saying goes, ‘use it or lose it,’ and I’m definitely not ready to let twenty-plus years of experience fade away!

Recreating a reference photo is a fun technical challenge, especially when you’re coordinating three generations of women! My friend brought me this specific look to emulate with her daughter and granddaughters. It gave me a great opportunity to flex those professional muscles again. From lighting the shot to the final Photoshop touch-ups, I’m making sure those decades of skill stay sharp.
There is no real hurry for the final edit, which allows me the luxury of really perfecting the piece. As soon as it’s finished, I’ll post an update here so you can see the ‘inspiration vs. reality’ of this multi-generational session!
Yesterday is today’s memory.
Be sure to capture your memory today!
All the best,
Debra Ellen
